Actress Leilah Nakabira flies to USA for The African Film Festival

 

On Sunday 30th June 2019, The African Film Festival (TAFF) awards will take place with a red carpet event at the Moody Performance Hall on 2520 Flora Street, Dallas, Texas.

TAFF is a non-profit organization dedicated to African motion pictures, and to serve as a platform for educative references to African Culture.

Ugandan actress Leilah Nakabira departed Ugandan soils on Tuesday, USA-bound to join several other top African celebrities from across the world at the four-day festival in Dallas.

She is nominated in the Best Actress category for her role in the movie; The Forbidden. Six other Ugandan movies including The TortureBibi MtotoRainTwisted Minds, among others are also nominated.

Leilah Nakabira is joined by Dianah Nabatanzi, Zziwa Aaron, Mathew Nabwiso, Samuel Saviour Kizito, and Nodryn Avanci, as the Ugandan film-makers nominated in the awards.

Speaking to this website, Nakabira revealed that she “has high hopes and looking forward to meeting with other film makers both from different African countries and the USA.”

We wish her the very best and hope the other Ugandans nominated can bring the awards home.

This was his first time hosting a concert at Hotel Africana. 

Hon. Rebecca Kadaga officially opens 2023 Nyege Nyege festival
