MTN Uganda has announced the launch of its latest innovation, the e-SIM (Embedded SIM) technology.

The e-SIM, short for Embedded SIM, is a revolutionary virtual SIM card that empowers users to seamlessly connect to their mobile service provider without the need for a physical SIM card. This digital marvel is remotely programmed via software and is seamlessly integrated into the latest generation of smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, and even vehicles.

Somdev Sen, Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Uganda, shared his enthusiasm for this new offering, stating, “At MTN Uganda, we are committed to driving Africa’s progress through cutting-edge digital solutions. Our latest e-Sim technology, an integral part of our Ambition 2025 strategy, exemplifies this commitment by providing our valued customers with an advanced and hassle-free way to experience the benefits of a modern connected life.”

He further noted that, “the e-SIM eliminates the need for physical SIM cards and opens up a world of possibilities, allowing users to effortlessly switch carriers, add plans, and manage multiple phone numbers on a single device. It’s a game-changer that enhances convenience, security, and overall connectivity.”

e-Sim users can easily switch carriers, add new numbers, and even connect to different carriers, giving them ultimate control over their mobile experience. The ability to remotely program e-Sims offers unparalleled convenience, enabling users to manage their mobile plans with ease.

Travelers will no longer need to purchase physical SIM cards when venturing abroad. With MTN Uganda’s e-Sim, adding an international plan is as simple as a few taps, providing hassle-free flexibility and connectivity from the moment they arrive in another country.

While the benefits of e-Sim technology are undeniable, it’s important to note that not all devices and carriers currently support e-Sim. Customers with eligible devices can visit any MTN Service Center with their valid National ID and upgrade to the e-Sim technology.
